Thessaloniki Suburban Railway
From 04.11.2020, due to travel restrictions in Thessaloniki, the following itineraries are suspended: 1597, 1599, 2591, 2597, 2599, 1594, 1598, 2590, 2598, 3590.
Itineraries in circulation are 1590, 1593, 2592, 2595, 1591, 1592, 2591, 2594.
The tickets are valid 1 hour prior and 2 hours after the departure time of the passenger’s itinerary, as it is mentioned on the ticket.
Passengers have the possibility to change their tickets, at TRAINOSE sales points, until 23:59:59 of the departure date of the passenger’s itinerary, as it is mentioned on the ticket.
Modern, electric trains operate the service between Thessaloniki and Larissa, serving several intermediate stations and providing access – among others – to the beautiful coastline of Pieria. The travel time between Thessaloniki and Larissa is one and a half hour and each train has a carrying capacity of 500 passengers.
At the Larissa Railway Station the passengers have access to the train service Larissa – Volos. From Volos, visitors can enjoy the daily trips of the Little Train of Pelion or visit the Sporades islands, on the ferries departing the Port of Volos.
Some Thessaloniki- Larissa Suburban Services reach Paleofarsalos, enabling passengers to use the trains to Kalambaka and visit the Meteora Monasteries.
Thessaloniki – Florina
Through a modern rail infrastructure, the Thessaloniki – Edessa – Florina suburban service carries passengers from Thessaloniki to Edessa in one and a half hours and to Florina in two and a half hours safely and affordably, by making use of special discounts and multiple trips cards.
During the trip, passengers can enjoy the beautiful and unique scenery of the area, the most notable being the Edessa Waterfalls. The trip to Florina may also be combined with local excursions to Prespes Lakes and to nearby Ski Resorts.
The Platy Station is a hub station in the Thessaloniki – Edessa – Florina railway line service. Passengers from Western Macedonia can board to trains serving the main line Athens- Thessaloniki and head to Southern Greece, while passengers from South and Central Greece may transfer at Platy to visit Western Macedonia.
