Transport of persons with special needs / reduced mobility

TRAINOSE S.A. grants a discount of 50% on the full fare ticket to persons with special needs / persons with reduced mobility (PRM), (over 67%) upon presentation of the respective identity card for persons with reduced mobility issued by the responsible Public Authority.

 

A discount of 50% on the full fare ticket is also granted to the accompanying persons of people with reduced mobility (where this is needed) upon presentation of the respective identity card issued by the responsible Public Authority.

 

Transport of persons with reduced mobility using a wheelchair is possible in trains, in the composition of which specially structured coaches for PRM are available.

The total wheelchair’s width must not exceed 70 cm and the total length 1 m and 30 cm.

 

For travels on the Suburban Railway Line of Athens (Piraeus – Athens – Kiato – Airport) as well as on the rest of the Hellenic Railways’ Network, travel planning is recommended, (at least) 48 hours before the journey, in consultation with TRAINOSE.

On weekends or holidays persons with reduced mobility may contact TRAINOSE’s Call Centre by calling phone number 14511 (charged when calling from Greece 0,646€/minute, and 0,984€/minute, when calling from a mobile phone, with an additional mobile phone tax of 12% -20%, depending on the monthly bill, VAT excluded).

 

Rail journeys for PRM not planned in advance are possible only on the suburban line of Athens ( Kiato – Piraeus – SKA – Airport) as well as on the suburban line of Thessaloniki (Thessaloniki – Larisa) to and from stations in which sales points are in operation.

  • Stations and trains of the Athens Suburban Railway offer the following possibilities to PRM:
  1. Use of a special ramp for boarding and disembarking of passengers with reduced mobility (on most trains).
  2. Ability to provide visual information via screens as well as information regarding the next train station (on most trains).
  3. Audio announcements  for passenger information and announcements regarding the next train station (in all trains).
  4. Ticket booths of low height (operating with personnel) at the stations between Metamorphosis and Airport and at the station Agh. Anargyroi.
  5. Low-height ticket cancellation equipment at all stations.

 

  • Stations and trains of the Thessaloniki Suburban Railway offer the following possibilities:
    1. Use of a special ramp for boarding and disembarking of passengers with reduced mobility (on most trains).
    1. Visual information via screens as well as information regarding the next train station (on most trains).
    2. Audio announcements for passenger information and announcements regarding the next train station (in all trains).

    At the Athens Railway Station the access of PRM is possible through two lanes connecting the station’s building and the platforms.

    Non scheduled PRM transportation by train (on routes other than the Athens & Thessaloniki Suburban Railway) is possible. In case passengers proceed to a ticket booth and express their wish to travel without having notified the TRAINOSE  earlier, their request is processed on the spot and they are informed if the intended transportation is possible or which are the alternative transportation options (nearest boarding station, nearest departure station, etc.).
